SWIRE Shipping Fijian Drua players Mesake Doge and Maika Tuitubou brought smiles to Lautoka Methodist Primary School student yesterday as part of the team’s annual community blitz program.

Out of the school’s 996 students, over 300 excited children gathered to meet the players, participate in a rugby clinic, and receive some valuable sports tips.

The students were thrilled to see their rugby heroes face-to-face, as the visit provided a rare opportunity to interact with professional athletes.

Adding to the excitement, the Fijian Drua donated rugby balls and sports kits to the school as a token of appreciation.

Teacher Karthik Goundar received the gifts on behalf of the school, expressing gratitude to the team.

“Thank you for choosing Lautoka Methodist Primary School. This visit means a lot to our students,” Goundar said.

In an interview, Mesake Doge, who is returning to full fitness after rehabilitation, spoke about the community engagements.

“I’m excited to see these kids. Most of them don’t have much opportunity to meet us, but to be here and give back to the community is something great.

“It’s amazing to see them come out of their classrooms and enjoy the day,” he said.
