Bulitavu raises concern on recruitment agency

Social Democratic Liberal Party member Mosese Bulitavu has questioned decisions made by management board president Ratu Epenisa Cakobau on the interview process for party leader and deputy party leader.

Mr Bulitavu’s concerns were in relation to a move by the management board to use the Pacific People recruitment agency to facilitate and process interviews for the positions.

“For the record, Pacific People has no mandate and I do not recognise it as the selection panel endorsed by the management board,” Mr Bulitavu said.

“I will only participate in the interview if the management board had resolved and endorsed Pacific People to be the selection panel.

“The whole process starting from the appointing authority to establish your legitimacy as interview panel, conducting interviews and report recommendations should be based on management board resolution, not the president’s own discretion.”

Mr Bulitavu said he had refused to attend the interview on Monday because he was a strong advocate of transparency and good governance.

Meanwhile, SODELPA general secretary Emele Duituturaga refused to comment when approached by this newspaper at the party’s headquarters in Suva yesterday.
