Bowls fours team out

THE national women’s fours bowls team failed to qualify for the Commonwealth Games semi-finals after going down to Malaysia 23-8 in the quarter-finals in Glasgow, Scotland.

The team made up of Radhika Prasad, Doreen O’Conner, Litia Tikoisuva and Sala Gukivuli put on a brave fight against their opposition.

They recorded the best scores of the first round of action.

In the women’s singles Elisabeth Mocewai lost all three games going down to Papua New Guinea 9-21, South Africa 8-21 and Canada 14-21.

Fiji bagged mixed results in the men’s pairs and triples disciplines.

The pairs team of Samuela Tui and Arun Kumar lost to Wales 12-18, India 11-15 and England 17-20.

The triples team of Abdul Kalim, Ratish Lal and Dan Lum On won the matches against Cook Islands 14-8 and Kenya 22-12. The side lost to South Africa 16-17 and Northern Ireland 23-8 to miss a spot in the quarter-finals.
