“Our players came through with confidence and they displayed themselves outstandingly on the pitch,” said team manager Viliame Soko.

“Having to bat first we knew we had to make quality time with the chance we had and our players didn’t hold back.

“We were also lucky we managed to complete just before the weather changed.”

Batting pair police constables Tuwai Beka and Delaimatuku Sokoiwasa were the darlings of the blues side raking in 87 and 90 runs respectively Police managed to complete their 50 overs before the the rain postponed the match, which continues today.

Soko said focus now turned to containg the Army batsmen in the final play today.

“We will look to close it off when we take the field. And we are confident we have what it takes to end strong.”

Soko thanked the Fiji Police Force family and maritime sponsors who have been the backbone of the team. The Sukuna Bowl cricket challenge continues today at Albert Park in Suva.
