Fiji’s Minister for Youth and Sports Parveen Kumar thanked the Australian government for their Team Up sports development program that was launched at the Albert Park in Suva today.
He thanked the Australian deputy high commissioner Paul Wilson for his support.
“Australians are among high achievers and world leaders in all aspects of sports development and participation,” Kumar said.
“Fiji has benefitted greatly from the powerhouse in sports that is our friendly neighbour and we look forward to their continued support and expertise in sports development in Fiji,” he added.
He said the Team Up program would not only benefit the sporting community, but it had a big impact on the livelihoods of each Fijian.
“In sports, it is not only about the technical knowledge that is primary concern but the holistic development of every sportsperson whether it be an athlete, official administrator or a fan of a particular sport.”
Fiji is lucky to be one of the six countries in the region to benefit from the Team Up partnership program.
