Adverse weather conditions has resulted in the abrupt conclusion of the Primary Schools GIR Plus Festival at Bidesi Park in Laucala Bay, Suva a few moments ago.
Coordinator for Fiji Rugby Union’s Get Into Rugby Plus programme, Oripa Lee who was present at the scene, mentioned the students safety was a paramount concern and this along with the bad weather led to the abrupt conclusion of the tournament.
Despite the setback, she further explained all schools went home with a trophy each in consideration of some rural schools that travelled from afar to be part of the meet today and to not just present them to the winners of matches today.
Each participating school had already played a single match prior to the cancellation and were presented with a trophy before they departed the grounds.
