GOODBYE and “baibai” Vanuatu.

Team Fiji officials and athletes were busy cleaning up the Central School in Port Vila, Vanuatu before departing for Fiji last night.

Athletes and team officials ensured the school was cleaned where they camped for students in the new school year.

Team Fiji chef de mission Pauline Morris said they enjoyed the hospitality in Vanuatu.

“Everyone is looking forward to go back home, especially those who had been here for the past two weeks,” she said before departing yesterday. It was a successful competition.”

Fiji won most of their gold medals in the weight-lifting competition and athletics.

“We have backed up and to ensure we leave the village as we were handed at the first place and trying to be responsible, appreciative and grateful to the facilities we had been using,” she added.

“The team had assembled for the head count and other logistics and I am sure the athletes are aware of their responsibility during the flight and hope the athletes reach one in one piece.”

Meanwhile, the volunteers at the games villages who were helping Team Fiji got emotional after serving the contingent for about two weeks
