ASPEN Medical has reinstated endoscopy services at the Lautoka Hospital, having recently acquired new equipment, including an endoscopy tower and a portable bronchoscope.
Endoscopy services are a vital diagnostic service for the Western Division which will allow doctors at the hospital to diagnose conditions such as ulcers, tumours, and other medical issues while also improving patient care.
In a statement, Aspen Medical said the previous unit, which was mostly out of service since 2019, had been replaced with a state-of-the-art equipment which includes automatic cleaning and disinfection of the scope according to infection control standards.
“Endoscopy is a medical procedure that uses a thin, flexible tube with a light and camera to examine the inside of the body,” the statement read.
Chief Operations Officer Barry Herberts said the new equipment was suitable for adults and children and would further enhance the level of service provided to patients.
“The new endoscopy equipment will enable doctors to conduct precise examinations, leading to earlier detection of potential health issues and prompt treatment,” he said.
“This, in turn, will improve patient outcomes and reduce the need for more invasive surgical procedures.”
Aspen Medical began managing operations at Lautoka and Ba hospitals in April 2022.
