“TO have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until parted by death, that is my solemn vow.”

This significant marriage vow was shared with brothers Viliame Ravato and Mosese Visaka on their wedding day at the Natabua Methodist Church late last month.

Viliame married Litia of Rewa while Mosese married his long-time friend and partner Mere Tulo of Tamusua in Yasawa.

The brothers are from Daku, Tailevu, but were brought up in their mother’s village on Malakati on Nacula, Yasawa, by their grandmother Iliesa Luisa Naulivou.

Reverend Suliasi Malo, who officiated at the ceremony, reminded the couples that the commitment was a life-long one that needed to be nurtured, cared for and moulded on a daily basis.

Marriage, Reverend Malo, added was not about eating good food or living in a good house, but was about commitment, sacrifice and love.

Mosese, the younger brother shared that marrying his best friend was a blessing in disguise because he knew from the very first time they met that Mere Tulo was meant for him.

They first met in 2011 through a friend in Lautoka and this was the beginning of their never-ending relationship.

His elder brother Viliame is a member of the territorial force of the RFMF and an electrician while Mosese and wife ply their trade in the hospitality industry.

“It is an honour to celebrate this special day with my big brother because we were brought up together in the village and I love him so much,” Mosese said.

“We are also blessed to have our close family members here with us and it means so much to us and the significant journey we are about to partake in life.”

Mosese added that marriage, to him, was about providing everything his wife wanted and ensuring they lived a happy couple together and always.

The event attended by close family members was an important one as it was an opportunity for them to give their blessings to the newly-married couples.
