When we give young entrepreneurs the support they need, we are securing our future and building a stronger foundation for young people to shape our communities.

This was the message from Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica while speaking at the Arts and Entrepreneurship Stakeholder Consultation on February 6.

He emphasised the importance of supporting young entrepreneurs and artists.

“It’s really good to see a lot of young people here who are already involved in business and the different art sectors here today,” Mr Kamikamica said.

He encouraged participants to take away key notes from the consultation and share them with their peers.

“We encourage all of you to take full advantage of this consultation, learn and share knowledge with each other.”

The consultation was held to help the Pacific Foundation for Development (PFD) understand the needs and challenges of the artistic and the entrepreneurial sectors.

PFD hopes to carry out training and workshops that will help young artists and business entrepreneurs overcome challenges in their different sectors.

The project, Young Creative Entrepreneurs, focuses on art and entrepreneurship.

Representatives and stakeholders from art-related business like the Fiji Fashion Week, RAKO dance group and local Fijian-pop band VT1s participated in the discussions.

PFD said the two-day consultation program would form the basis of a needs-based training in the different art sectors in the country.
