Vusu Raiders to face PNG’s Mt Hagen

THE Vusu Raiders are set to battle the Mt Hagen Eagles for the prestigious Melanesian Cup in Papua New Ginea.

The match will be the curtain raiser for the much-anticipated Pacific Bowl clash between the Vodafone Fiji Bati and the PNG Kumuls.

The Melanesian Cup is a single rugby league match played annually between the premier domestic champions of Fiji’s Vodafone Cup and Papua New Guinea’s Digicel Cup.

This years Melanesian Cup will feature the two champions from 2024- Fiji’s Vusu Raiders against PNG’s Mt Hagen Eagles.

Fiji National Rugby League chairman Akuila Masi yesterday highlighted Vusu Raiders participation as an exciting opportunity for our local player to gain international exposure and recognition.

“The Vusu Raiders have been camping for about two weeks now, straight after the final. They will play curtain raiser before the main game against PNG Kumuls and the Fiji Bati, and they are expected to return on Monday,” Masi said.

The team is expected to depart for PNG today.
