Tourism Fiji’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Paresh Pant, has officially taken up the role this week, describing it as “an exciting time” for Fiji’s tourism industry, which continues to show resilience and steady growth.
He has acknowledged the sector’s recent performance, noting that Fiji welcomed 735,154 visitors between January and September this year, up 0.3 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
In September alone, 92,344 visitors arrived, contributing an estimated $320 million in tourism earnings, with holidaymakers making up 82 percent of total arrivals.
“While much has been achieved, we also face risks and challenges ahead,” he said.
“Success will depend on our ability to work together, stay prepared, and remain agile. My focus is on delivering value, driving results, and ensuring every decision contributes to the long-term growth of Fiji’s tourism industry.”
Adding to the positive momentum, he highlighted that Fiji has been named one of National Geographic’s 25 Best of the World destinations for 2026, reflecting the nation’s natural beauty, rich culture, and sustainable tourism efforts.
“As I settle into my role, I look forward to meeting many of you across Fiji’s tourism sector, strengthening our partnerships, and working together to create experiences that showcase the very best of our islands to the world,” Dr. Pant said.
