The victim in the Rakiraki house fire has been identified as Ilieasa Ulutegu Junior.
He was 25-years-old and died following a house fire at Navolau No. 1 Village in Rakiraki on Friday night.
He was alone at his family home when the fire broke out around 11.30pm.
According to villagers, Mr Ulutegu was last seen entering the house shortly before the blaze started.
Firefighters from the National Fire Authority responded to the emergency and managed to contain the blaze, but the house was completely destroyed. The victim’s body was discovered after the fire was brought under control.
Also destroyed in the fire was a village canteen and a garage.
Police and NFA investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
