Defending champions Extra Supermarket Labasa got off to a strong start in their opening match of the 2025 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) after defeating AAAK & Easy Kool Air Conditioning Nadi FC 2-0 at 4R Stadium, Govind Park, yesterday.

Midfielder Christopher Wasasala, who was named Man of the Match, showcased excellent skills in both attack and defence, leading from the front and keeping the Babasiga Lions in top form throughout the game.

Wasasala opened the scoring in the first half to hand Labasa a 1-0 lead at halftime.

“Thank God for the win. This is our aim to take these three points. As defending champions, it’s important to start well, and I thank the boys for their effort,” said Wasasala after the match.

In the second half, Labasa lifted their momentum and continued to pressure Nadi in all phases of play. Despite several attacking attempts, the Jetsetters failed to find the net as Labasa’s defence held firm.

Jack Junior Ani sealed the victory for Labasa with the team’s second goal, ensuring a confident 2-0 full-time win.
