THE FIJI Water Flying Fijians kick-off their second Pacific Nations Cup campaign tomorrow against Samoa with the intent of ensuring they cover all bases.

Head coach Mick Byrne’s squad sees a slight change in the line-up of his match-day 23 team and is indicative of the opportunities present in the team’s ambition to succeed in the PNC.

In a press conference yesterday, he said the team is already bracing itself for the tough Samoan advance.

Byrne’s remarks stemmed from how the team fared in their round one PNC match against Tonga last Saturday in Suva, where they won 30-16.

While the team walked away with a win and a favourable start to their PNC campaign, blunders made on the field which costed them and benefited the Tongans were noticeable.

“Tonga showed us that if we are not on our game around our breakdown, we’re going to come off second,” he told the media.

“So, we really focus on our urgency around that part of the game and we also want to convert opportunities when we go forward.”

With these in mind, he said they had worked on key areas to iron out before they meet the Samoans tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Flying Fijians face Samoa at the Rotorua International Stadium in New Zealand.

The match kicks off at 3pm.
