RUGGER and boxer Sera Bolatini plans to face opponent Connie Chan head-on in the ring and enjoy herself tonight at the ZEG Kings Boxing Promotion event.

Bolatini will fight Chan for the Super Welter WBA Oceania Title and at the weigh-in event held at Sukuna Park in Suva yesterday, Bolatini weighed in at 68.5kg while Chan weighed 69.3kg.

The Vuma, Levuka, Ovalau fighter was pleased following the weigh-in and added her focus was set on tonight’s contest against her Australian opponent.

“All I say is to go there and enjoy myself,” Bolatini said.

“I feel confident, grateful and happy that I weighed in today and I’m happy and prepared.”

“Only God knows how I’ve been preparing and I’m thankful for it and I’m looking forward to it.

And she continued to acknowledge the Creator’s guidance and provision in how she navigated her way through challenges faced in her preparation.

“Yes, there were some but I’m thankful to God for giving me the strength to endure them for a long period of time,” she added.

She is also a rugby player, and has donned the white jersey for the Fijiana 7s team.

Transitioning to donning the glove and trunks from holding the oval ball and white jumper, she said there were a few challenges faced in that as well.

“In rugby, it wasn’t so difficult but in boxing, yes, but not that much since training was more difficult and, in my fitness, as well.

When times were rough in her preparation and she needed a boost to keep herself going through the rigid training process, her mind drifted to her main support system; her family.

“Sometimes when I feel down, I would think of my family at home,” she said.

Meanwhile, Bolatini and Chan’s bout is one of 10 action-packed fights slated for tonight’s promotion at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
