Local boxing coach Osea Nanovu is convinced Sera Bolatini will clinch the super welterweight WBA Oceania title tomorrow night when she fights Australian-based Connie Chan in the ZEG Kings Boxing Promotions at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
Bolatini is part of the Team Boxing Brave Club Fiji which is coached by Nanovu.
Nanovu is confident the Fijiana 7s player has what it takes to launch a winning performance.
“She will win!
“I am very confident because I know her potential,” Nanovu said in an interview.
24-year-old Bolatini has only two fights to her name, both of which were against overseas opponents from New Zealand and Australia.
She made her debut last year in Auckland where she lost to the experienced Erin Walsh on points.
By book, Bolatini is on the downside compared to Chan’s record who has fought 14 times, won six times and lost eight.
Of the six wins, four came by way of knockout.
Chan who arrived in the country on Tuesday said she has a lot of respect for her opponent.
“Not to be underestimated (referring to Bolatini).
“I know that I have put in the hard work, and I always anticipate that my opponent will put in the hard work as well so both of us are going to show to the Fijians community and hopefully the world what female boxing is all about,” she said.
She added that this is an opportunity for both of them to show what women’s boxing is all about.
