THREE medals have been secured so far by the Fiji Amateur Boxing team at the Australian Golden Gloves competition being held in Queensland, Australia.
The team, consisting of 10 talented boxers, has showcased their skills and determination on the international stage.
Anaseini Naikanivatu, making her debut representing Fiji, stood out with a remarkable performance that earned her a gold medal.
In his first international appearance, Sakiusa Narara made a lasting impression in the 85kg open division by swiftly knocking out his opponent, Finlay Wilson, in the initial round.
Another standout boxer, Norman Amram, clinched a silver medal by defeating Eduardo Hawkins of Australia.
Head coach Cam Todd expressed his satisfaction with the team’s progress and believes they will continue to excel, aiming for more medals as the competition advances.
“I’m very happy with the way the team is going so far, as the competition progresses, we will be expecting more medals from our team,” said Todd.
He adds the tough competition provides invaluable exposure for the young boxers, many of whom are experiencing their first international tournament.
The Australian Golden Gloves competition will conclude on Saturday.
