Draft plan to eliminate TB

EXPERTS are hoping to compose a draft framework towards eliminating tuberculosis during the seventh TB Control Meeting of Pacific Islands, conducted by the World Health Organization in Nadi this week.

In his opening address yesterday, Health Ministry’s deputy secretary public health Dr Eric Rafai outlined the key objectives of the three-day meeting.

He said they would discuss the draft framework and its applicability for countries and areas with a low TB incidence.

According to Dr Rafai, the 46 participants from various Pacific Island Countries would review the progress of TB control and identify challenges that will allow further TB control efforts in Pacific countries to be strengthened.
