The Namosi Rugby Union will be hosting a 10s tournament next week on Saturday at Thomson Park, Navua.
The aim of the tournament is to start off the new season and is a build up towards the 2022 Skipper Cup competition.
Organisers aim to make this possible after a long layoff because of the COVID- 19 pandemic.
In a statement, organisers said they were adamant to get things rolling and bring back a sense of normalcy as far as rugby was concerned.
After an impressive 2020 performance in defending the coveted Farebrother Sullivan Trophy over five challenges and reaching the semi-finals of the Skipper Cup, Namosi hopes to take it up another level this year.
Namosi rugby chairman Alevio Turaganivalu said the 10s tournament would serve as a platform to scout additional players to be part of the senior team in this year’s Skipper competition.
“This will be a good hitout for many who have not played for a while, so we urge and invite all interested teams or clubs, men’s and women’s, to register and get some good game time.”
Details are as follows: men’s registration $200 per team, main prize – $2000, women’s registration $100 per team and main prize $1000.
