7s coach releases Jasa for wedding

LANKY Fiji 7s forward Jasa Veremalua is on his way to scoring the try of his life when he ties the knot with his sweetheart Vani Volavola at Korotogo Village in Sigatoka today.

Veremalua had been one of the key players for the Vodafone Fiji 7s team in the past few years.

He took his day off from the national 7s camp with the approval from coach Gareth Baber.

“It is a big day for him,” Baber said.

“He will get married tomorrow (today).

“Members of the Fiji 7s team will be present at his wedding.”

Meanwhile, nippy speedster Alifereti Veitokani, together with Emosi Mulevoro were missing from training yesterday. Veitokani was sick while Mulevoro had some family commitments.

Baber was impressed with newcomer Lemeki Tulele who helped his First Light Taveuni to win the Coral Coast 7s last month. The other new players are Josua Kurinabili of Wardens and Army’s Paula Dranisinukula and Tevita Nabura.

“The new players are doing well,” he added.

“They have brought a lot of structure in the team and have shown what I saw them do at the Coral Coast 7s.

“There are some things they have to get their heads around and we cannot expect it to happen in the next two to three days.

“The players will be more comfortable by the middle of next week.”
