Patricia sets swim record

PATRICIA Verebasaga of Barracuda Swimming Club aims to improve her time to break more records in the Swim Fiji Short Course Age Group Nationals at the National Aquatic Centre in Suva.

Verebasaga set a record in the girls 50 metres breaststroke with a time of 37.06 seconds.

The old record of 37.75 was set in 2014 by Moana Wind of all of Barracuda Swim club.

“I was inspired by my friend Tagici Sowane to try out this sport in the past three years. I am grateful that I am breaking barriers and getting out of my comfort zone in achieving my dream,” Verebasaga said.

than 240 swimmers are competing in the three-day competition.

SF general manager David Dugu said this would be the final short course event for the season.

“We are excited to see the performance over the three days, and we’re positive to see some new national records set during these three days,” he said.

“There were 15 national records and seven open records had been broken. We thank our sponsors for this event Pacific Destinations which jumped on board to assist in hosting our event.”
