NATIONAL sporting bodies have submitted their final team member names to FASANOC where the selection justification committee will review selected athletes.

Team Fiji chef de mission to Pacific Games said the selection justification committee, which consists of prominent people with sporting backgrounds and legal advisors, have a crucial task of verifying names for the next few days.

“Each federation has narrowed down their final team and the selection justification committee has a job of checking their credentials to see that everything is proper,” Patrick Bower said.

“This committee will match the athletes’ names to the selection criteria provided by the national federations and will analyse accordingly to see if their spot in the final team is deserved,” said Bower.

Athletes who were dropped from the final team but felt they deserved a spot in the team can make an appeal to FASANOC 48 hours after the names are released.

“The athletes can bring in a copy of their record from training and competitions, file it to the committee and bring a legal advisor within the 48 hour period,” said Bower.

The final names are expected to be released early next week.
