Sixteen men from the province of Namosi graduated yesterday in Suva after successfully completing six weeks of training in leadership and good governance under the sausauvou training program.
Among the graduates was Ratu Jope Batilekaleka, 23.
He said the training had broadened his views about the importance of good governance.
“This training really opened my eyes to how good governance is important in our vanua especially during this age where culture is changing,” Ratu Jope said.
“I learned a lot of things about the traditional governance structures and leadership in our iTaukei communities.
“I hope to share all that I have learned with my village back in Namosi when I go back home.”
He said he glad to be part of the training and that he would utilise the skills for the betterment of the province.
The training was facilitated by the iTaukei Affairs Board and funded by the iTaukei Trust Fund Board that was held at the Centre for Appropriate Technology and Development (CATD) in Nadave.
The program was a training for iTaukei leaders aimed at strengthening the iTaukei traditional governance structures and leadership in the iTaukei communities.
