The University of the South Pacific's (USP) Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) has witnessed an increase in student enrolment this year by at least 10 per cent, with the substantial rise in postgraduate and international student enrolment.

One of the faculty's recent major highlights include the introduction of three new courses this year, two in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management (STHM) — TS 403 (Festival and Event Management and TS 405 (Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Tourism and Hospitality); and LM 318 (Industry Internship) in the School of Land Management and Development (SLMD).

The faculty's Graduate School of Business (GSB) has also introduced a New Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship Programme which will be offered from 2017.

Other highlights include the STHM achieving international accreditation by THE-ICE (International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education); establishment of a Pacific Centre for Economic Policy and Modeling (PCEPM) by the School of Economics; and the launch of a book titled The New Pacific Diplomacy by the School of Government, Development and International Affairs (SGDIA).

For this year's Open Day, the Faculty will display its courses and programmes in the respective School booths in their village complex. The School of Management and Public Administration will use a Pacific Island theme and depict a transition from early cultural heritage to a new modern sustainable Island environment.

The Open Day will be an opportunity for prospective students and teachers to obtain academic and career advice while students can have a firsthand experience of a premier university environment.

Visiting students will also be able to take back posters, other information pamphlets, packages and related organisations like the Fiji Bureau of Statistics (FIBOS) and the Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) will be part of Open Day Display in the School of Economics booth.
