EPG report labelled as "rubbish"

Update: 12.10pm THE Eminent Person's Group report has been described as "piece of rubbish" by the Fijian Wing of the Fiji Labour Party.

The Wing's secretary, Maika Moroca accused the EPG of encouraging corruption to continue.

"The so-called Forum Eminent Person's Group can go to hell with their report because it does not hold recommendations that are constructive enough to enable Fiji's economic recovery and return to democractic rule without corruption," Mr Moroca said.

Mr Moroca says the Group cannot understand what had happened that led to the military takeover, instead it makes conclusions which is only fit to be thrown into the rubbish bin.

The EPG, in its report, had advised that interim Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama resign and a civilian appointed Prime Minister.

The Group was headed by Vanuatu's Deputy Prime Minister Sato Kilman, Samoa's Environment Minister Faumuina Luiga, Papua New Guinea's retired Chief Justice Sir Arnold Amet and retired Chief of Australia's Defence Force General Peter Cosgrove.

It had suggested that the military withdraw from its involvement in the interim government, with a view to restoring civilian rule as soon as possible.

But the Fijian Wing of the Labour Party accused EPG members of being pro-SDL.

"These people have never contributed to shaping fiji's development yet they pin-point the military's intentions and vision for a new and corrupt-free nation," Mr Moroca said.

Mr Moroca says Commodore Bainimarama should continue with his clean-up campaign and disregard the report.
