EVA Dainadriva has been selling root crops for a living for 25 years - and it has helped put food on the table and send her grandchildren to school.
A resident of Koroipita in Lautoka, the 76-year-old granny has been in the business long enough.
Despite living alone with her grandchildren and not receiving any kind of assistance from her children, Ms Dainadriva is happy with her achievements.
Greeting a passerby with a radiant 'Bula', she said selling root crops such as cassava, dalo and lemons has helped put food on the table for her family of six.
"I have five grandchildren, they all live with me and I cook, feed, and cloth them," she said.
The inspirational grandmother never thought about quitting her job as a result of life's difficulties in her 25 years as a market vendor.
"One of my grandchildren is going to primary school and he is in Class Four while all the others stay home," she said.
"While I am away during the day, they are taken care of by relatives or neighbours.
"After my house chores, I like to spend time in my flower garden, it's not big but a good pastime for me."
The mother of nine said she was happy with her life and thanked the Lord for everything.
"We don't do much at home, when I get home from the market my first chore is washing the children's clothes," she said.
"Then we prepare the meal and spend time with the children."
